Quick Internet Safety TipSharing too much personal information online and social media sites can be dangerous and this quick tip shares some ways to post more responsibly.

Take care not to share too much information about your whereabouts on social media. When you check in at a distant locale, post pictures of your whereabouts while it is happening, or rsvp for a public event, you are letting others know when you’re away, which could lead to a burglary (or other possible dangers). Keep this information private to be safe.

Better ways to stay safe online:

  • Instead of checking in online while you’re away – let others know you were at a location by sharing a review of your experience after your visit.
  • Post vacation or travel pictures after you get back (and only select a few of your best photos to post).
  • Lastly, make reservations or let the host know you are coming by email instead.

It’s much safer to share your information in a way that is private than letting all the world know where you are all the time. You never know who might be reading your posts!

To your safety (and fun online!),
