How the 1st Responders Appreciation Squad started...
In 2023, God led Carmen Wisenbaker (with Penworth Publishing) and her husband, Donald, to start the “1st Responders Appreciation Squad” where together, they are the Volunteer Coordinators. The group shows 1st Responders (Firefighters, Paramedics and EMT's in the Humble, Texas community), appreciation for their service through a Prayer Team, Appreciation Baskets, and Specialty Printed Books, along with other various projects throughout the year.
Our main objective is to lift the spirits of our 1st Responders and let them know our community is behind them 100%. We always try to find ways to encourage and support them anyway we can. They are very important to us all and we are so grateful for what they do.
We show thankfulness to our 1st Responders through various teams:
• Our Prayer Team sends up a prayer each time they hear a siren, and prayers in special situations.
Our main prayer is:
"Heavenly Father, we lift up these 1st Responders responding to
this call and those they are responding to. Lord, protect them,
keep them safe, and if it be your will—may all things go well.
In Jesus Christ we pray.”

• Appreciation Basket – Our Appreciation Baskets include lots of goodies, such as cookies, cupcakes, specialty breads, cakes, pies, delicious snacks, and other tasty treats!
• Specialty Books – Published by Penworth Publishing, include Faith Based Books, Devotionals, Inspirational Books, Humor Books, and Specialty Coloring Books and Journals.
