How the 1st Responders Appreciation Squad started…
In 2023, God led Carmen Wisenbaker (of Penworth Publishing) to start the “1st Responders Appreciation Squad” where she is the Volunteer Coordinator. The group shows 1st Responders (both Firefighters and Police Officers in the Humble and Atascocita, Texas areas), appreciation for their service through a Prayer team, a Card Writing team, and a Goodie Basket team that delivers baked goods and tasty treats periodically to each station.
Our main objective is to lift the spirits of our 1st Responders and to let them know our community is behind them one hundred percent. We always try to find ways to encourage and support our 1st Responders in any way we can. They are very important to our community and we are so grateful they do what they do.
Showing gratitude and respect to those that serve our communities (in the Humble and Atascocita, Texas areas) in our times of need.
We show thankfulness to our 1st Responders through various teams:
• Prayer Ministry
• Card Ministry
• Baked Goods and Tasty Treats Ministry
• And various projects throughout the year.
Our Speaking Program About Volunteering:
Speaking Availability: Carmen is available to speak at your group’s meetings on the topic: “Identifying Your G.I.F.T. for Serving Others and Your Community.” This program helps those attending identify their true passion and find the right volunteer opportunity by using a fun, pick-and-choose quiz designed to identify their preferences by personality and strengths. It also helps charity leadership match volunteers with the right tasks for much better success in their efforts.
Carmen also hands out a “Community Volunteer Resource List” that lists many organizations in which to get involved within the area. This helps them find the perfect volunteer opportunity. She loves to “match” both the volunteer to the right opportunity to serve their community in the best way possible (whether with her own group – the 1st Responders Appreciation Squad, or another group).
